Exciting gigs on the horizon: Royal festival hall with the WOW orchestra, Pizza Express Soho, Oliver's Jazz Bar with the Khoalesce project, London Drum Day
February 23, 2018
The start of 2018 has been relatively relaxed compared to the end of 2017, I'm getting a bit more free time to work on my studies at Trinity and to write music. The year started with a 1920s themed New Year's Eve gig with the Swinging Magpies where we teamed up with the Gatsby Girls, they're great dancers and really know how to get a party started!
Studies at Trinity have been going well, I'm particularly enjoying getting drum lessons there with Asaf Sirkis and Gene Calderazzo, as well as doing rhythm classes. My Masters project has been working on a series of compositions supervised by Simon Purcell - there will be a chance to showcase some of these at this upcoming gig with the Khoalesce project at Oliver's Jazz Bar on 30th March. The gig features John Turville on piano and Kevin Glasgow on bass, hope you can make it along!
I've also got a couple of gigs coming up at one of London's finest jazz clubs - Pizza Express Soho - which I'm really excited about. March 29th with Tomorrow's Warriors and 23rd April with Cygnus Flare, tickets are available now - https://www.pizzaexpresslive.com/whats-on/cygnus-flare
Last but not least, I'm really looking forward to playing a gig with the WOW orchestra featuring Alice Russell (who I have been a fan of for years and am so excited to get to play with!) and local jazz singer Zara McFarlane at the Royal Festival Hall... The actual Royal Festival Hall!! That's without a doubt the biggest stage I'll have been on so far, that's March 11th. And by complete coincidence I'm also playing with a jazz band elsewhere in the Southbank Centre earlier in the day before this main gig.
