Having attended an inspirational workshop at the Musicians' Union HQ in London, I've decided to start blogging! I'll talk about my day-to-day life and activities as a drummer in London and share my experiences of trying to cut it as a female drummer in today's music scene.

The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy but really fun - here's a quick overview. The Swinging Magpies played at the last of this season's swing dancing event, Salty Mondays, at the Far Rockaway in Shoreditch - this is an awesome venue where lots of really good swing dancers come out to play.. It was a fun and high energy event!

Gig tonight at a swing dancing event with vintage jazz band Swinging Magpies. At the Hideaway, Archway, from 8pm. From a drumming point of view it's a fun band - I just play snare drum (usually with brushes), cowbell and splash cymbal and there's no bass player (there's a bassoon!).
